Plot

You're a witch disgruntled with the socioeconomic aspects of Christmas, and you're holding the Elves responsible. Storm their Fir Tree, get as high as you can while killing all who stand in your way using your trusty Blade Blade.

Gameplay Hints

  • Open the inventory to pick up nearby items.
  • Cold damage can freeze enemies, causing them to stop moving or attacking.
  • Fire damage can ignite enemies, dealing damage over time.
  • Lightning damage can shock enemies, making them take more damage.
  • Breaking a crystal empowers crystals of other colors, making them drop more rare rings.
  • Different rings have different affixes. E.g. blue rings have armor and red rings have life.
  • If you fall off the edge, the level is reset, but the crystal colors remain the same... optimize your route through the level to maximize your rewards!

This is an excellent game. It's like ARPG boiled down to its essence - kill, loot, optimize, progress- in a tight and satisfying loop. It plays well regardless of your chosen pace, whether you prefer to risk everything to blitz the challenges ahead or carefully farm the section for the best possible gear - the scaling systems on the enemies and loot contrive to deliver appropriate challenge and reward.

The item stats are diverse and well-balanced. Even on my "fast" runs, I spend quite a bit of time every run carefully weighing the trade-offs between different combinations of items. It's well thought out, and so it makes me devote a lot of thought in turn.

BladeBlade2's items do not waste your time. Rarely do I find items that make me think "this is trash" there's almost always some quality I want, if only the rest of my equipment could compensate... But when I do find an item that ticks all the boxes, or one so overwhelmingly specialized in one area that I dare to risk the compromise, I can expect the next two minutes to be magical.
